Sunday? Whatever. Here’s the Last Airbender Superbowl TV Spot Now

Can’t wait to see the new trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender” during its Superbowl debut this weekend? Well you don’t have to. UGO has the exclusive 30-second spot online now for your viewing pleasure. Head on below to see the action-packed TV spot, which gives us more action in just 30 seconds than we’ve seen from the movie thus far. It looks pretty good, actually, a lot better than I was hoping for. Not a fan of the music, though, it sounds like they just took the same music from the trailers for “Clash of the Titans”. Aside from that, this will probably get a lot of tongues wagging during the Superbowl.

Starring Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel, Cliff Curtis, Nicola Peltz, Jessica Andres, Noah Ringer, Seychelle Gabriel, Shaun Toub, Aasif Mandvi, and directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

The Fire Nation invades July 2, 2010.

If you’ve never seen the tv series I suggest you go get it. It’s amazing. Streams from the Nickolodeon website, and PS store and more. That said I am truly impressed as that looked MUCH better than I thought it would. The Bending effects were freaking off the hook!!!! Haters can hate, whinner cna whine but I don’t think this is gonna tank, and I’m really hoping it gets it’s sequels.

I agree Dedpool! I have not watched the Tv series, but the subject matter was always appealing to me. I am totally on board for this ride, thats for sure!! M. Night has always been good at creating atmosphere in his films, even if his recent films have been rather bad…That atmosphere really shows here, man i can’t wait!

Yeah and his vision seems to actually match mine, which was a multiethnic asian influenced culture. The scene with the earth bender stopping the fire was sweet. And the clothing looked gypsy like which is what the character Toph reminds me of with her style of dress. I think the film needs more asian actors but to populate the whole world with just asians would’ve made it less relateable to the real world. It’s a whole world and I think the cultures (even if they are ALL heavily asian influenced) should reflect that with different looks for the people not just in clothing. I stated before that to me Earth Tribes seemd Eurasian/Gypsy like, The Water Tribes (north and South) are inuits/eskimos, ante Air Nomads would’ve been the people I made completely asian, and the Fire Nation is an Indian/asian mix. That’s just how I saw it and it came about in the film that way. But whatever I’m feeling this teaser. I just hope it’s not a case of the trailers are better than the films.

really, this 30 second clip was not good. the footage was good. but, the music was awful and just did not fit. nor did the footage explain much. i hope the full trailer is way better then this rushed, jumbled nonsense.

    • Liberty

That was just a clip… ah.. now if they can do a sneak peak special then that would be even better. can’t wait for the movie :)
I can not wait for the full two minute trailer, cause if all this is in 30 seconds imagine the entire movie!

???? uhm you obviously have a computer so why don’t you just read the synopsis of the film. Your judgement of a trailer is that of such of someone who doesn’t know how trailers work. Its a teaser spot, so expect more greatness in the coming weeks. You have your own opinion of course, your way of judgement just seems a little juvenile.

agreed James, Idunnowhattothink obviously doesn’t know what a TV spot means. Its not a trailer. Its a mashup of selling points meant to get people interested in seeing the Trailer to know more of what its about.
    Anyway,
I am very happy with the tv spot. It definitely makes me want to see the movie more. I wonder if they are going to stick to the forms in the cartoon. Its not necessarily needed and they can probably be re done without much thought to look even better than the cartoon. I was interested in this but had never gotten too into it. Then i bought my girlfriend the box sets and watched them with her. Excellent stuff!!! I need a trailer and I hope they dont make me wait too long.

When you say “forms” do you mean the martial arts styles? I hope they do keep them, and they ARE necesarry. Each martial art style has a different movement style that they picked because it went well with the element that was being manipulated.
      From Wiki:
Each fighting style was chosen to represent the element it projected:

Tai Chi focuses on alignment, body structure, breath, and visualization. This technique is the foundation of “Waterbending” in the series.[21]

Hung Gar was chosen for its firmly rooted stances and powerful strikes to represent the solid nature of earth. This martial art is the basis of “Earthbending” in the series.[21]

Chu Gar Southern Praying Mantis has distinguishing movements and unique footwork that are employed by Toph Bei Fong to complement her blindness, giving her a unique style of Earthbending.[34]

Northern Shaolin Kung Fu uses strong arm and leg movements. This technique is the foundation of “Firebending” in the series.[21]

Ba Gua uses dynamic circular movements and quick directional changes.[21] This technique uses centripetal force to generate power, and uses nearly constant circular movement to create angles between the combatants. This martial art is the basis of “Airbending” in the series.[36][37]

I really hope they do this. I saw Jet Lit using Ba Gua in “The One” as “Gabe” and it’s defintiely perfect for air bending, as is Tai chi for water bending.

Great show though. I’m getting the box sets soon myself. And TSTI where you guys been? Haven’t seen you or Ulik on “The Lightningman”

Ive been working on the Lightning man script off comp. I buckling down with the idea and seeing how it looks on paper. I’m writing up a few stories and interviews and im going to see how to work more hands on Lightning man and character into the idea we had. I’m taking very seriously what you commented on in the thread. I’m basically finding a way to cheat like in District 9. Keep the interviews and documentary style form but have areas of integrated Personal drama and storyline.
