Super Bowl XLV isn’t until this Sunday, but until then, here are two early spots that you can expect to see during (or possibly before or after) the game. But definitely sometime on Sunday while the game is on. The first spot is for “Kung Fu Panda 2” and was featured on Entertainment Tonight, and the second spot is one of those viral “hidden in a fake ad” spot for Michael Bay’s “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”. Both have now made it onto YouTube.
If the “Transformers” spot is the only one they’re doing at the game, it will be a pretty big disappointment, though if I had to guess, it would be that they’re sprinkling these mini-spots throughout the game and will eventually show off the actual trailer as the highlight. If that’s not what they’re doing, then they might just end up being way too clever for their own good. I mean, sneaking Transformers into fake commercials is fun and all, but there’s no substitute for just coming right out and telling people, “Look, we’ve got a new movie — here’s the trailer!”
“Kung Fu Panda 2” opens May 26, 2011, followed by “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” on July 1, 2011.
