I didn’t like it very much when it was called “Abduction”, and I’m not entirely sure I want seconds, even if it’s now going under the title of “The Cold Light of Day”. That was my first (snap) reaction to this first trailer for Henry Cavill’s action thriller, which stars Cavill as a “normal” fellow who just happens to be a tad highly skilled, who discovers that his parents are not who they are (the dad, Willis, is a CIA guy), and look, it’s Sigourney Weaver skulking about the background helpfully lending shadowy, cryptic exposition! You know, just like she did in John Singleton’s “Abduction” starring Taylor Lautner in the Caville role!
Yeah, it’s basically the same movie, only set in Spain. At least there’s that. Then again, maybe this is the movie that “Abduction” should have been. One can only hope, right? It couldn’t possibly be any worst, that’s for sure. Then again, I’ve been wrong before…
While on vacation in Spain a young Wall Street trader’s family is kidnapped. With only hours to find them, he must uncover a government conspiracy and its connection to his father’s secrets.
Starring Henry Cavill, Bruce Willis, Sigourney Weaver, Joseph Mawle, Caroline Goodall, Jim Piddock, Rafi Gavron, Óscar Jaenada, Shira Scott Astrof and directed by Mabrouk El Mechri, who helmed that trippy cool Jean-Claude Van Damme movie “JCVD”.
The film is scheduled for April 6, 2012, and the fact that you’re only seeing the trailer now is very curious, indeed.
