Superman Returns as Superman Unleashed?

Will Bryan Singer return to direct the “Superman Returns” sequel? Will the Wachowski Brothers take a crack at it instead? Will Warner Bros. finally give us a Booster Gold movie already before the world ends? All very good questions, without a whole lot of answers. The latest Superman tidbit has the title being changed to “Superman Unleashed”.
The original news story hails from the blog of one Alex Litel (via Slashfilm), who stumbled across the “Superman Unleashed” title, among many others, at the Legendary Pictures website. Here is the official plot for the sequel before the page was taken down:
“Ramping up the action of its esteemed predecessor, the sequel to ‘Superman Returns’ promises to raise the stakes and take the audience to heights of action that no other superhero movie can achieve.”
So according to the Legendary Pictures site, yes, the next Superman movie will be a sequel to Bryan Singer’s “Superman Returns”. Then again, they did take the page down, so maybe this was an old page that has been up there for a while, and needs to be changed, sort of like a smelly diaper. We shall see.

Okay, well, seeing as how there haven’t been any other replies to this, I thought I’d give my two cents. Superman movies=BAD IDEA. People, Christopher Reeve is dead. He was a great Superman, and after having him play the role through four movies (even though the fourth movie sucked) no one else should ever even try to fill his cape. Don’t agree with me? Well, if you haven’t seen it yet, watch Superman Returns. That was one of the worst super hero movies of all time. The only redeeming part of the movie was Kevin Spacey in a great Lex Luthor role. Granted, Spacey wasn’t as good or as funny as Gene Hackman in the 1978 Superman movie. Movie moguls, follow my advice: lay the idea of any future Superman movie to rest. Why? Because DC Comics, with the exception of Batman, sucks.
sorry Angelmci01 but im going to have to totally disagree with you, yes kevin was ok, and yes i have seen the movie. it wasn’t brandon rouths fault (and FYI:that is the name of the new BETTER SUPERMAN) the movie sucked it was the writers. reeve’s personally scared the CRAP out of me. Routh is EXACTALLY how i picture superman, not reeve’s, reeve’s is too thin.

I for one think WB should reboot the superman movie franchise. Superman Returns was not very good at all. Sure, they had the right idea with some of their special FX, but there was so much wrong with the film. Every known character in the movie was just bad. Routh was the only one who was acceptable, but he is no Christopher Reeve. Routh has the look, but based on this first showing that’s about all he has. He has very little personality and he’s just not a very good actor. And, I’m not exactly sure why a comment was made about Reeve’s being too thin because he was a bigger guy than Routh. Reeves was 6′4″ 230 lbs during the Superman movies. Routh during the movie was 6′2″ 218 lbs. Reeves had a better look and was all around a better actor. This is part of the reason why they should reboot the series. Since no one will most likely ever be able to compare to Reeves as Superman, WB’s best bet for any kind of acceptance of a new Superman would be if they start over from the beginning.
And, probably the biggest problem with Returns was that the story was pathetic. This is another reason why they should reboot the series. There was almost nothing redeeming about this story line. The crystals, the continuity plot holes, that horroible child angle. Apparently, they don’t have any good ideas for story lines at this time, so they should go with an origin story. Maybe by the time they get through that one they will have come up with a decent follow-up story.

They need to have Superman fight more. Introduce characters like Lobo, Braniac others that will liven the franchise up. I like Lex Luthor, but they need to go ahead make him Rich. Let him get all the other bad guys together go after Superman, Lois or whoever they’re changing everything up.
I think Brandon Routh did a fine job as portraying Superman. He really did almost look like Christopher Reeve. And I have been waiting for a sequel since the movie was out. There are loose ends that need to be tied up. I would like Kevin Spacey to play Lex Luthor. I don’t understand what has been the hold up.
