I think they need to make the death of superman trillogy, the comics are highly rated in any top comics list. It would make a great superman trillogy with lex, doomsday and supergirl.

Well, I know a Seattle area casting director who stated the search for the next Supe’s was brutal. I think they found a pretty good second to Chris Reeve in Brandon Routh. Superman Returns was a let down in some ways, but knowing where they wanted to take the film back to (dissing the Richard Pryor era), I think it was OK. I give it a B-. They def need to ramp up the action and get a REAL villain that Superman can hammer on. Enough with the lame Lex Luthor. This next Superman does need to be a little more brutal, a little more edgy, but I don’t think it needs to go too dark. Batman IS dark. Supes is not, typically. Don’t try to make the big S a Batman Kryptonian. Looking forward to the next REAL Superman film. And I hope they keep Routh.

Ive got to agree with Daniel, No one gives a flying rat’s ass if your a girl a guy or just a cross dressing homo This thread is on Superman and for heaven’s sake let it be on supes.

I think the whole idea of making brandon routh be like chistopher reeve is screwed up. No one can match him , you just need a different take on the character like how heath ledger had the entire concept of joker revamped, he did not try to imitate Jack Nicholson . Now thats whats needed in the superman franchise. A strong story line and a good caste (that doesnot mean Son of superman hell no, i hate the very concept of superman having a son)

I think Brandon Routh did a fine job as portraying Superman. He really did almost look like Christopher Reeve. And I have been waiting for a sequel since the movie was out. There are loose ends that need to be tied up. I would like Kevin Spacey to play Lex Luthor. I don’t understand what has been the hold up.

I for one think WB should reboot the superman movie franchise. Superman Returns was not very good at all. Sure, they had the right idea with some of their special FX, but there was so much wrong with the film. Every known character in the movie was just bad. Routh was the only one who was acceptable, but he is no Christopher Reeve. Routh has the look, but based on this first showing that’s about all he has. He has very little personality and he’s just not a very good actor. And, I’m not exactly sure why a comment was made about Reeve’s being too thin because he was a bigger guy than Routh. Reeves was 6′4″ 230 lbs during the Superman movies. Routh during the movie was 6′2″ 218 lbs. Reeves had a better look and was all around a better actor. This is part of the reason why they should reboot the series. Since no one will most likely ever be able to compare to Reeves as Superman, WB’s best bet for any kind of acceptance of a new Superman would be if they start over from the beginning.

And, probably the biggest problem with Returns was that the story was pathetic. This is another reason why they should reboot the series. There was almost nothing redeeming about this story line. The crystals, the continuity plot holes, that horroible child angle. Apparently, they don’t have any good ideas for story lines at this time, so they should go with an origin story. Maybe by the time they get through that one they will have come up with a decent follow-up story.

sorry Angelmci01 but im going to have to totally disagree with you, yes kevin was ok, and yes i have seen the movie. it wasn’t brandon rouths fault (and FYI:that is the name of the new BETTER SUPERMAN) the movie sucked it was the writers. reeve’s personally scared the CRAP out of me. Routh is EXACTALLY how i picture superman, not reeve’s, reeve’s is too thin.

Okay, well, seeing as how there haven’t been any other replies to this, I thought I’d give my two cents. Superman movies=BAD IDEA. People, Christopher Reeve is dead. He was a great Superman, and after having him play the role through four movies (even though the fourth movie sucked) no one else should ever even try to fill his cape. Don’t agree with me? Well, if you haven’t seen it yet, watch Superman Returns. That was one of the worst super hero movies of all time. The only redeeming part of the movie was Kevin Spacey in a great Lex Luthor role. Granted, Spacey wasn’t as good or as funny as Gene Hackman in the 1978 Superman movie. Movie moguls, follow my advice: lay the idea of any future Superman movie to rest. Why? Because DC Comics, with the exception of Batman, sucks.
