Superman Welcomes Brainiac to Earth in First Trailer for Superman: Unbound

Matt Bomer of “White Collar” fame (and, er, for you ladies out there, “Magic Mike” fame) takes over as the voice of Superman in D.C.’s latest direct-to-DVD original animated movie featuring the Last Son of Krypton in “Superman: Unbound”. Which is ironic, because I always thought Bomer would make a great live-action Superman. Physically, anyway. I don’t know if he quite has the brooding down for the Man of Steel, though.

Anyways, where as I? Oh, right, check out the first trailer for D.C.’s “Superman: Unbound”, featuring Supes and Supergirl battling Brainiac. Seriously, what kind of ego trip do you have to be on to call yourself Brainiac? That’s almost a parody of a supervillain name right there.

Superman Unbound, based on Geoff Johns’ 2008 Action Comics story arc, finds the Man of Steel squaring off against the planet-destroying alien machine, Brainiac, while balancing his responsibilities to Lois Lane and cousin Kara (Supergirl). The voice cast includes White Collar’s Matt Bomer as Superman, Fringe’s John Noble as Brainiac and Castle’s Stana Katic and Molly Quinn as Lois and Kara, respectively.

Hey, “Castle” fans, check this out: the movie features voice work by two of your favorite ladies — Stana Katic and Molly Quinn. Too bad they couldn’t get Nathan Fillion to do Superman, then they could have just called the movie “Superman: Castled”. Am I right?

James Tucker (“Legion of Super Heroes”, “Static”) directs.

The Big Blue Boy Scout and his barely dressed cousin saves Earth from alien bad guy Brainiac sometime this year.

This looks pretty epic, and Bomer sounded subdued but good as Supes, but John Noble as Brainiac is awesome!!!! This was a great story that really made Brainiac a threat again.

I always thought that Bomer would make a good Superman.
