After “Shaun of the Dead” left its bold and bloody mark on the world, everyone and their second cousin thought they could lense a zombie/comedy with little to no effort on their part. Guess what? They were wrong. Dead wrong. With the exception of “Fido” and, perhaps, “Zombies of Mass Destruction”, movies featuring the undead as comedic props have been extremely lackluster, both in terms of zombie carnage and genuine laughs. Matthew Kohnen’s “Aaah! Zombies!” (aka “Wasting Away”) is hoping to change things a little, and judging from the trailer lurking over yonder, it has the potential to deliver the proverbial goods. The story is nothing spectacular — friends turn into zombies and must fight for survival — but Kohnen’s approach is wholly unique.
“Aaah! Zombies!” will gnaw pleasantly on your funny bone on September 28th, 2010.
