Take a Trip to Fox’s Gotham with a New 3-Minute Featurette and Images

Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue in Gotham

It could be that I’m just too used to seeing Batman’s pal Jim Gordon as Commissioner Jim Gordon, aging white-haired dude with glasses and a cigarette, waiting for his BFF to come save the day on some rooftop somewhere, that I have a hard time grasping the concept of a TV show where Gordon is the one who is saving the day. Fox is trying to remedy that misconception about ol Jimmy boy with a new 3-minute-plus behind-the-scenes featurette that focuses on just why Jim Gordon is such a friggin’ badass.

Let’s find out together, shall we?

Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker. GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics super villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller (“The Mentalist,” “Rome”), GOTHAM follows one cop’s rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering on the edge of evil and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time.

The series will star Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, and Jada Pinkett Smith, along with Camren Bicondova, David Mazouz, Erin Richards, Sean Pertwee, Clare Foley, Robin Taylor, and Cory Michael Smith.

On Fox this Fall.

Donal Logue is a near perfect casting for Harvey Bullock, there’s just one problem, if he’s middle aged now, how old is he gonna be when Bats finally shows up?

Who says he survives that long in this version. Every iteration of the lore and world outside of the comics will be different. It’s the law of adaptation.

Though the “I know Batman secretly wants to beat me up” part of his personality was always enjoyable. And overall he is a good character, and I’ve liked Donal Logue since the Patriot, killing him off early would be a shame.

Well I don’t think it will be early, but I have a feeling before the end of the show Bullock will fall prey to the corruption of Gotham, a bit more than he has (they say he’s a little corrupt, I’m thinking a less criminal Vic Mackie from the Shield) and then has to pull himself out of it with Gordon’s help which will lead to his death and ultimately Gordon becoming Commissioner. Just and idea though.
