Anywhatever. Luke Grimes, an actor on “Brothers and Sisters” (one of those TV shows that has been on forever, but I’ve never actually met anyone who has ever seen a single full minute of it), has landed the cushy gig of Maggie Grace’s boyfriend in Olivier Megaton’s sure-to-be super violent follow-up to Luc Besson’s 2008 surprise hit film.
“Taken 2″ will find the newly re-married (or at least, re-together) couple of Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) and his wife (Famke Janssen) captured by a vicious bad guy (ain’t they always?) who blames Mills for his son’s death. Cause you see, Mills is responsible. The bad guy (Rade Serbedzija) was the father of one of the baddies Mills dispatched with extreme prejudice in the first movie, while he was running around Paris and such. Originally I thought Serbedzija might be playing a Muslim/Middle Eastern bad guy, but since Serbedzija is Serbian and looks more Eastern Europe than Middle Eastern, my guess is he’s probably the dad of one of those Albanian white slavers Mills shot for information. Possibly even the guy he tortured. This, ideally, would allow Besson, as he’s wont to do, to delve into some perfunctory “you torture us, we torture you” political talking points.
In the sequel, it’ll be up to Maggie Grace’s character Kim will have to rescue her parents, with boyfriend Luke Grimes’ help.
Besson and Robert Mark Kamen penned the script for “Taken 2″, which is due to start shooting sometime next year in various parts around the world.
