“Taken” was released in the U.S. as a PG-13 action film, but was originally intended as an R-rated movie. The difference will be obvious when Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment releases the movie on DVD and Blu-ray May 12th as an 2-Disc Extended Cut. Special features will include audio commentaries by the director, writer and cinematographers, and your usual exclusive behind-the-scenes “making of” featurette and side-by-side comparisons. The Blu-ray Disc will go for $39.99, with the Standard DVD costing you $34.98. Cover art and full specs below.
When a former spy’s estranged daughter is kidnapped in France, he sets out to find her at any cost. Relying on his special skills, he tracks down the ruthless gang that abducted her and launches a one-man war to bring them to justice and rescue his daughter.
There are three versions: a Blu-ray and DVD 2-disc version, and a single-disc version. Specs for the Blu-ray and DVD are pretty much identical, except the Blu-ray will come with something called the “Black OPS Field Manual”, and the single-disc version will not include the digital copy of the movie.
