Teaser Poster and Synopsis for The Expendables 2

Ready for some more gung-ho, over-the-hill muscleheads riding to save the day? Lucky you. “The Expendables 2″ will be rolling pretty soon (they’ll have to round out the cast and get themselves a director first, of course), and Nu Image is already waving the film around over at Cannes looking for buyers. From the studio (via MTV), we now have the synopsis for the sequel, and it looks like bad news for Mickey Rourke’s character:

The Expendables are back and this time it’s personal! After Tool (Mickey Rourke), the heart and soul of the Expendables, is brutally murdered on a mission, his comrades swear to avenge him. They’re not the only ones who want blood. Tool’s beautiful young and wild daughter Fiona embarks on her own revenge mission, complicating matters when she is captured and ransomed by a ruthless dictator plotting to destroy a resistance movement. Now Barney and the Expendables must risk everything to save her and humanity.

Besides Tool getting himself killed (though I don’t see how you can call it “murder” when he’s, you know, on a mission and all), the bad guy is apparently … the same guy as the one in the first movie? Sure sounds like it. Couldn’t the Expendables take on, say, a group of ninjas or something in the sequel? I mean, sure, it’d be silly, but probably not any sillier than them going around shooting it out with a bunch of two-bit dictators in every movie.

Anyways, here’s your first look at the teaser artwork for the upcoming sequel, due out sometime in 2012:

That actually sounds decent. Lets get some eye candy going. I say Jesica Biel should play Rourke’s daughter. Loved the first film, and though he wasn’t in it much Rourke’s character was great.

Save humanity? Really? i’m a big fan of the first one, but this might give everyone another reason to laugh at this movie.

I could have lived without that spoiler about Rourke’s character.

Not really a spoiler if it happens before/during the first act and is the main impetus for the rest of the movie.
