Teaser Poster for Oxide Pang’s The Detective

I swear those Pang Brothers make about 5 movies a year and 10 movies separately when you add it all up. Or maybe it’s just my imagination? Whatever the case, they sure are prolific, either working together or separately. The latest from one half of the brothers, Oxide Pang, is called “The Detective”, and it’s something of a horror-thriller-suspense-mystery, and stars Aaron Kwok as a Private Investigator who is in such dire straits financially that he takes a really crappy case just to pay the bills. The film will open September 25th in Hong Kong, and should make its way to DVDs very soon thereafter. “Tam (Kwok) is an impoverished private detective. One day, a guy nicknamed Fatty asks Tam to find a lady who wanted to kill him. He left Tam a portrait of the lady without giving any details. Tam could not resist the money and starts the investigation. He identified the lady as Sum who is a frequent mahjong player.

Tam starts tracking her whereabouts through her mahjong playmates, but he is shocked to find each of them murdered every time he is about to be in contact with them. He discovers a half-burned photo at one of the scenes. Tam realises the suspicions behind the deaths and decides that he has to protect the next target of the invisible murderer. The photo is the only clue for Tam to uncover the case.”

It looks like this is a quickie movie, because details on the film are hard to come by. Still, with Kwok in the lead, and a Pang behind the camera, how bad could it be?
