Marvel may be getting their clocks clean when it comes to original direct-to-DVD movies starring their characters, but they’re making pretty huge inroads in the animated TV areas. After launching anime versions of “Wolverine” and “Iron Man”, the studio’s “X-Men” title is now also getting the anime treatment.
The show is being imported to Japan via Madhouse Studios, and finds the familiar faces (minus some familiar faces) battling evil mutants once again. Click on the pic above to get a better view of the cast of characters in the show. Via I09 / ANN.
The X-Men are reunited following the death of a teammate [Jean Grey according to Animax], and are summoned by Charles Xavier to Japan following the abduction of Hisako Ichiki (Armor). There, they confront the U-Men, a lunatic cult that steals and transplants mutant organs to further strengthen their own army, and the battle for justice is on.
The show is set to air on Animax, the same network behind the “Iron Man” and “Wolverine” anime series, in Japan starting April 1st. For Stateside fans, G4 is expected to bring all four titles over later this year.
