Teaser Trailer and Roster for The X-Men Anime TV Series

Marvel may be getting their clocks clean when it comes to original direct-to-DVD movies starring their characters, but they’re making pretty huge inroads in the animated TV areas. After launching anime versions of “Wolverine” and “Iron Man”, the studio’s “X-Men” title is now also getting the anime treatment.

The show is being imported to Japan via Madhouse Studios, and finds the familiar faces (minus some familiar faces) battling evil mutants once again. Click on the pic above to get a better view of the cast of characters in the show. Via I09 / ANN.

The X-Men are reunited following the death of a teammate [Jean Grey according to Animax], and are summoned by Charles Xavier to Japan following the abduction of Hisako Ichiki (Armor). There, they confront the U-Men, a lunatic cult that steals and transplants mutant organs to further strengthen their own army, and the battle for justice is on.

The show is set to air on Animax, the same network behind the “Iron Man” and “Wolverine” anime series, in Japan starting April 1st. For Stateside fans, G4 is expected to bring all four titles over later this year.

Glad they’re still using the costumes as well. It looks like they went with a version of the comics costumes (current, and New X-men). The concept art reminded me of Quitely’ss designs. Also I like that they went with Cat beast, and included Armor. She’s a current favorite of mine.

I’m not a huge fan of anime in general. However, this looks pretty cool. Although it looks like over the years Wolverine has gotten taller. Lol. He used to be like 5’8″ now he is the same height as Cyclops at around 6’1″. Just an observation.

@Juggernaut, I was just about to mention that but you beat me to it. LOL! Yeah, I’m not feeling the tall Wolverine thing, it’s getting to be ridiculous. One of the major character traits of Wolverine is him being the Badass underdog “little guy” that always comes out on top. Making him tall takes away a lot of the appeal from a character standpoint. It also makes him stand out or be more interesting being such a short man.

I kinda figured that they were taking the movie version route. Don’t get me wrong he looks coolin the movies. And for the films Jackman is very well cast (sometimes misdirected! Gavin Hood I’m lookin’ at you!!! Lol.), but well cast. I’d just like to see Logan at his more diminutive stature. It makes his ass kicking much more spectacular. Either way this cartoon looks cool. I liked the Ironman anime and the style of the last Spider-Man toon too. Even the more heavily anime influenced art on the Gotham Knights DVD was cool. I’ll definately be checking it out.

Last I remember Wolverine started out as 5’3″ when he debuted in Incredible Hulk 181. Then Hugh Jackman got cast to play him and he was taller than James Marsden which I always thought was hilarious.

I think they were going with the movie version which was same height as Cyke, same as the anime Iron Man’s Tony Stark looks like RDJ.

You’re right, Tony in the Ironman anime looked and acted a lot like RDJ. To an extent the Avengers:Earth’s Mightiest Heroes version of Tony is similar to RDJ too.

        • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

Definitely in A:EMH. They got the voice actor who did IM in the IM2 game to do the voice because he sounded alot like RDJ, wouldn’t be surprised if they ge thim for the dubbed IM anime.

As for Jackman as Wolverine, i agree I wish he fit the physical attributes better but he was well cast and is the best for it. That said Arronofsky’s idea of having him bulk up and hunch like a boxer should bring the visual closer to the comic.

    looks gay

  • Vampelle

why the h*** they kept the movie costume and not the original.

  • SmokinBandit

Bad ass, I like anime too a certain extent. Really dont go in for the silly crap that sometimes gets pushed into certain shows because it detracts from the action and seriousness, but I do see why it is done in some of them to make it more light hearted for the kids. But this looks like a completely serious anime badass series, kinda wish it was a movie instead though….
