Trailer Debut: M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender

M. Night Shyamalan goes all epic on us in “The Last Airbender”, which thankfully doesn’t look like it has any killer trees in it. Then again, the movie is about people who wield elemental powers, so whose to say killer trees don’t show up at one point? One hopes not. Anyways, here’s your first look at Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender” via a teaser trailer that was teased before, but has now shown up online via YouTube. Word is it’ll be officially released in front of Transformers later this week, but the quality is pretty decent for a YouTube trailer.

Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world. Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film “The Last Airbender” is the opening chapter in Aang’s struggle to survive.

Starring Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel, Cliff Curtis, Nicola Peltz, Seychelle Gabriel, Noah Ringer, Jessica Andres, Shaun Toub, Aasif Mandvi, and directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

The war begins Summer 2010.
