Originally slated to shoot up theaters way back in 2011, Geoffrey Fletcher’s teen hitwomen flick “Violet and Daisy” (yes, it’s not just one teen hitman — er, I mean, hitwoman — it’s two!) is finally seeing the lights of day this Summer. Until then, check out the first trailer for the film and see what Violet and Daisy have been up to while they waited for someone to pick the film up for distribution. Hint: it involves guns. And contract killing. Ah, those wonderful teenage years…
The film co-stars Saoirse Ronan, who already played this role in Joe Wright’s “Hanna”, which coincidentally was also from 2011. Though unlike “Hanna”, Ronan’s role here is less serious and more fantasy-oriented from the looks the trailer.
Violet and Daisy are a pair of gum-cracking teenage assassins who casually snuff out crime figures in New York City, distracted only by the fact that a concert by their favorite pop idol Barbie Sunday has suddenly been canceled. Determined to raise cash for some Barbie Sunday dresses, the duo takes on a new hit job targeting a mysterious loner who leads them into an unexpected odyssey of self-examination and catapults the junior enforcers into a world beyond Barbie Sunday and bullets for pay.
“Violet and Daisy” also stars Alexis Bledel, Danny Trejo, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Cody Horn, James Gandolfini, and Tatiana Maslany.
Gunning dudes this June 7, 2013.
