Oh, hey, look, it’s another would-be movie franchise about hunky/pretty teens (played by twenty-somethings) in a dystopian future based on a popular YA book series! Blood from a stone, Hollywood! Squeeze that blood from the stone before it dries up — then squeeze it some more! Anyhoo. Here’s your first look at the trailer for director Wes Ball’s “The Maze Runner.”
And yes, in case you were wondering, it does indeed feature a maze. A big ass maze, in fact. And kids running around it. Thus — maze runner. Or, runners. So, no false advertising there, I guess.
When Thomas ( Dylan O’Brien) wakes up trapped in a massive maze with a group of other boys, he has no memory of the outside world other than strange dreams about a mysterious organization known as W.C.K.D. Only by piecing together fragments of his past with clues he discovers in the maze can Thomas hope to uncover his true purpose and a way to escape. Based on the best-selling novel by James Dashner.
Starring Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Will Poulter, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Aml Ameen.
Enter the maze this September 19th.
And oh, here’s the UK poster for the movie … featuring that aforementioned giant ass maze. Hey, at least this movie seems to be living up to its billing … if you’re a fan of giant ass mazes, I mean. (And really, who isn’t?)
