13 Clips from X-Men: First Class

Did I mention the “X-Men: First Class” hype machine is rolling something fierce right now, two weeks before the film opens June 3rd? Just in case you didn’t hear it the first twenty times, here are ten twelve thirteen whopping clips from the movie to bring it home. Some are old, but most are new, and I dare say, there are quite a number of SPOILERS in these clips, so watch at your own discretion.

“X-Men: First Class” charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

Starring Michael Fassbender, January Jones, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Bacon, Jason Flemyng, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Lucas Till, Zoë Kravitz, Oliver Platt, Morgan Lily, Edi Gathegi, Caleb Landry Jones and directed by Matthew Vaughn.

Okay I have to say I’m loving this. I really like Bacon as Shaw, and i’m sorry I gotta disagree with you Juggy, he shows just the right amount of superiority and sophistication. I think the victorian look added to that and without it, it seems diminished, but I thought the living like kings and queens line was the exclamation point to that. Also liked how they’re using his powers, where it seems like it’s almost an explosive release sometimes (the footstomp) but its still Superstrength from kinetic energy. Also liked Azazel using the sword a la Nightcrawler, and Riptide was pretty good. I really liked the Emma Frost scene. This definitely makes up for all the things they missed or I didn’t like in X-men and X2 (not many) and both X3 and Wolverine. Also keep hearing a rumor bout a Wolverine cameo.

To each their own my friend. I would have just liked an accent or something for Shaw and even Frost. Your definitely right about the change of attire taking away from the overall feel of them. Emma’s diamond form looks way better than it did in XOW. Shaw’s power looks pretty cool also. Although I’ve read the backstory of Shaw,(I won’t reveal it for the people who didn’t catch it), and I was extremely disappointed. The Hellfire Club was always one of my favorite villains and they are taking so many liberties and changoing the group and it’s members so drastically that it is really pissing me off! I came to terms with the fact that the movies aren’t the comics and certain aspects will be altered. However, I’m not happy with them butchering some of the coolest characters in the X-Men’s history. Well, there’s my tirade for the day. Lol.

Oh, by the way, I’m still going to be there opening day!

Just as they’ve made some improvements over some of the other things that people don’t like, but its still Fox. They are going to take liberties. I think Fox is brave for making the changes but at least make good ones. If it makes more sense for a real world setting, or to move the story or improve of the character I’m fine with it. As long as the essence of the character and the world is there I can sit back and enjoy…if its written well. Batman in the movies IS NOT the Batman in the comics, but its well written so it doesn’t matter. “Smallville” is another example. Yeah it has its haters but let’s face it there were more fans and that’s why it lasted 10 seasons. It made DRASTIC changes to the mythology but it was still very much the Clark/Kent we know.

WTF!!! Why the hell did they even call this X-Men First Class when 4 of the original X-Men aren’t even in this. Hello! Cyclops is the first X-Man, Iceman Angel & Jean are some the original team members.

Because Iceman was a teen in the first 3 and Angel never actually joined. They have to do the first class according to movie canon even though I personally say the class that had Jean and Scott is the first official class with Xavier as a true teacher.
