“I am Number Four” alien babe Teresa Palmer is “in talks” to join Nicholas Hoult in the post-apocalyptic horror/romance/drama “Warm Bodies”, a film that is being described as “‘Twilight’ meets ‘Shaun of the Dead’”. So basically, the irrelevant fanboy cool of “Shaun of the Dead” and the much-derided “teen horror angst” of “Twilight”? Now that’s a pitch.
Palmer would play “the daughter of one of the humans’ military leaders who is tiring of a life of constantly fighting off zombie attacks.” Her character falls in something with Hoult’s R, a zombie who has eaten Palmer’s character’s boyfriend. Fortunately for the lass, R feels something towards her and protects her from other zombies determined to chew on her tasty flesh. This oddball relationship of theirs eventually “starts a chain reaction that will transform him, his fellow zombies and maybe the whole lifeless world.”
So basically, not your typical zombie movie. Definitely something that could change the genre as we know it, if done right.
Jonathan Levine (“The Wackness”) is directing the movie, based on the book by Isaac Marion that isn’t even out yet. The novel arrives April 26, 2011, and yes, I’ve already pre-ordered my copy.
