Terminator 4 Producers Talk Bale, Casting, McG

Yes, Christian Bale has all but signed on the dotted line to play John Connor in the upcoming T4 relaunch of the franchise. And what kind of production will he be stepping into? One that’ll cost “north of $150 million”, for one. T4 producers Derek Anderson, Victor Kubicek, and Moritz Borman took on other rumors and speculation involving the upcoming movie with Entertainment Weekly.

Some notables:

Yes, Christian Bale will be playing John Connor. The movie will be focused ON John Connor. There WILL be a new, important character that may or may not be a Terminator. No, it won’t be Ah-nuld. Although the Governator may end up making a cameo. Maybe.

And then there’s this:

Terminator fans seem to be pretty supportive of the casting of Bale. They’re a little more skeptical about McG.

ANDERSON:
People can only speak to the body of work that they’ve seen of his [including Charlie’s Angels and We Are Marshall]. Some people love it and some people don’t. I think one of the things that we’re certain of is, this is gonna be the next step in his career as a filmmaker. He’s bringing all of his past experience and his amazing vision.

KUBICEK: McG is a huge Terminator fan. He is as excited as we are about bringing the franchise into the future. And again, Christian is such a committed, incredible actor. He doesn’t choose the roles he takes lightly. So I think that’s an endorsement of the script and certainly of McG. Somebody like Christian wouldn’t have signed on for a project if he didn’t feel he was in great hands with his director.

Yeah? What “amazing vision” is that, guys? The super duper ability to freeze frame, shoot in slow motion, and indulge endlessly in Matrix-style bullet-time effects? You talking about that “vision”, boys?
