Terry Zwigoff to Direct Bionic $40,000 Man

Written by Nix | September 14th, 2007 | 0 Comments |

Wow, what an idea for a comedy: A legendary astronaut and true American hero who finds himself horribly injured in a car accident and rebuilt by the government to be a bionic man, but on a budget of $40,000 — which makes him not all that bionic. No kidding! The whole thing will be directed by Terry Zwigoff from a script by Zwigoff and Daniel Clowes, his co-creator on “Art School Confidential” and “Ghost World”. And with “World” being one of my favorite movies, I’m really looking forward to this one, especially since Zwigoff and Clowes’ idea of “comedy” is so unlike everyone else’s. You can expect laughs, but also some heartfelt moments and insightful life observations to go along with it. Or maybe not.

There is no cast yet, but Steve Buscemi, who co-starred in the duo’s “Ghost World”, would kill in the role.
