The folks behind Colin and Greg Strause’s upcoming alien invasion movie “Skyline” have created a half dozen pretty nifty viral videos showing everyday people (and really, who doesn’t have a videocamera running nowadays?) doing everyday things when the aliens arrive and begin vacumning people up into their huge honking space ships. These are pretty cool, and reminds me of all those transforming cars that populated the “Transformers” viral videos. Though honestly, I don’t know how effective they are, since these videos are all on the “Skyline” YouTube channel and they aren’t really getting all that many hits. Then again, I suppose if you’re really looking forward to “Skyline” like I am, you’ll get a real kick out of them. For everyone else? Probably not so much.
After a late night party, a group of friends are awoken in the dead of the night by an eerie light beaming through the window. Like moths to a flame, the light source is drawing people outside before they suddenly vanish into the air. They soon discover an otherwordly force is swallowing the entire human population off the face of the earth. Now our band of survivors must fight for their lives as the world unravels around them.
“Skyline”, starring Eric Balfour, Scottie Thompson, David Zayas, Donald Faison, Brittany Daniel, Crystal Reed, Neil Hopkins, and directed by Colin and Greg Strause, opens this Friday, November 12, 2010.
