Director Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” should get a new trailer later this week. To get everyone on the planet as excited as possible about the clip’s unveiling, the folks behind-the-scenes unveiled a new plot synopsis and an updated cast list. I know that’s not nearly as exciting as the preview spots we brought you guys yesterday, but someone out there is probably very excited about this synopsis. Probably. Maybe. Perhaps?
I don’t know about you, but I’m having a hard time getting excited about “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” It’s not that I necessarily thought the Webb’s reboot was boring or terrible, mind you, but it just didn’t click with me. Here’s hoping the upcoming trailer will change my mind. However, I’m not holding my breath on this one.
Enough negativity! Here’s the updated synopsis:
We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
The updated cast list includes Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, and Sally Field. What in the hell happened to Chris Cooper? Wasn’t he supposed to appear in the sequel?
Let the speculation begin!
