The Amazing Spider-Man Teaser Trailer Officially Spins Online

Never you mind that bootleg we posted yesterday, here’s the official teaser trailer for Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, starring Andrew Garfield as the gangly webslinger and a blonde Emma Stone as his cute object of affection. It’s essentially another origin story for Spidey, though with some twists — Spidey’s parents are apparently secret agents now and Gwen Stacy is kinda a bitchy scientist instead of just some pretty girl in college. Plus, I totally dig the first-person web-slinging action. No glimpses of Mary Jane Watson, though. She’s not Spidey’s neighbor anymore, I assume. What do you think?

The rebooted “Spider-Man” stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson, Campbell Scott, Rhys Ifan, Irrfan Khan, and Annie Parisse.

Slinging into theaters July 3, 2012.

I think I may be in the small group of people who think that this actually looks really good. More of Peter as an awkward teen sounds cool to me. The cast is excellent. Hopefully Mark WEbb peppers the dialogue with Parker’s wit. I’m also hoping for a Dr. Connors/Lizard who the audience can be sympathetic towards. That was always the difference between him and Killer Croc. He is a good guy. Jekyll and Hyde. It looks like they’ll be playing up the past of Peter as well and may show some of his parents which is new. I’m looking forward to this.

That makes two of us! Lol.
I agree with your comment above about the looks and portrayals of Peter and Gwen in this one. I was always of the opinion that they should have done Gwen in the first Raimi film! instead we got that half assed bridge scene where they swap her out with MJ. Hopefully this new franchise will stick a bit closer to the source material. I know that I always get a lot of flack from our pal @Dedpool about my creatively stifling outlook on super hero flicks but I say dance with the one who brought ya!. There is a reason that people love these characters and stories. There is no need to change them up except of course to further the story or make an other wise unrelatable or impossible scenario more groundedand believable. I’ve always liked Rys Ifans, the actor playing Connors/Lizard, but I was also a fan of Dylan Baker’s portrayal in SM2 and SM3. He put in his time building the character throughout two films and it is a shame that he was never able to see that fully realized. He’s an actor that has that nice guy persona and likeability while also being able to go to some really dark places like his roles (Trick R’ Treat, Happiness). Ifans too has played some really dark characters (Hannibal Rising, Enduring Love). I’m sure he’ll be a good foe for the new Spidey!

My biggest gripe has always been the gloves and boots. The reboot was fine for me simply because Raimi pretty much glossed over the awkward stage and all that comes with it. “Spectacular Spiderman” was the best Spidey cartoon simply because he was still in HS and was drawn from classic stories and this looks to follow suit.

Well… can i say thath its too deam stupid back to the roots, the only scuse to do thath its if the movie takes a different way, just like Batman Begins, whit a serious look at the idea of a teenager super hero, if its not the case, and this its another Silly Super Hero Movie, i preferred see something more like The Incredible Hulk, whit a little flashback to the origins and the all the movie whit Spaidy Kickng Ass Accion.

Very mirrors edge style free running at the end in the first person view…i loved that game so i hope if the make a movie based game it will have similar mechanics. Trailer was quite good though. Saying that i got a ‘twilight’ style vibe from some bits…im not sure if i like that. Anyway, big spidy fan so i hope its good!

    • Juggernaut

I’ve heard that comparison to Mirrors Edge a few times. I’ve never seen that game but that style is really cool! I didn’t get the Twilight feel that you’re talking about but there will undoubtably be similar situations to those films with the younger cast and High School setting. Hopefully, unlike those movies, this is a good series! Lol.

we need a spiderman reboot about as much as we need a spiderman musical

kind of wish someone would go back in time and hire stan lee as advertisement editor

he could have been a character on mad men

and we would be free of all these preachy underwear hero CGI crapfests

I don’t know, would it have been expecting too much to just make another another movie, don’t acknowledge it as a sequel or reboot, and carry on without rolling out another origin story? “Spider-Man 4″ or “Amazing Spider-Man”–people would still go see it. If the Joel Schumacher “Batmans” did anything right, it was that.
