The Amazing Spider-Man Teaser Trailer Officially Spins Online

Never you mind that bootleg we posted yesterday, here’s the official teaser trailer for Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, starring Andrew Garfield as the gangly webslinger and a blonde Emma Stone as his cute object of affection. It’s essentially another origin story for Spidey, though with some twists — Spidey’s parents are apparently secret agents now and Gwen Stacy is kinda a bitchy scientist instead of just some pretty girl in college. Plus, I totally dig the first-person web-slinging action. No glimpses of Mary Jane Watson, though. She’s not Spidey’s neighbor anymore, I assume. What do you think?

The rebooted “Spider-Man” stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson, Campbell Scott, Rhys Ifan, Irrfan Khan, and Annie Parisse.

Slinging into theaters July 3, 2012.

My only problem with the reboot was the taking it back to high school to pass for kiddy fare, and the fact that this starts his maturity and power prowess over again. Hence the ramp up to him knowing what he’s doing is a revelation I don’t need to see again and is a waste of time. This trailer makes me think they are legitimately just trying to start back over and won’t spend TOO much time in Spidey High. I still think they should have just started a new trilogy with the darker edge, showing a more maturing and hardcore Spider-man really fighting for his life against a well done venom and leading to carnage (Of course I still want Maximum carnage). All in all, it looks good and its a great trailer. For those that say they haven’t seen Mirrors Edge, GO check it out. I am so pissed they aren’t making a sequel. Good thing the story didn’t leave off on a cliffhanger.

I see what you’re saying but there needs to be a base for this new series of films to be planted in. If they were to just skip all of the origin and discovering his powers and dive head first into a story new fans may be lost.
Obviously most people who are buying a ticket to this movie have seen the Raimi trilogy or at least know the character. However, for a Hollywood film to neglect a possible fresh, sight unseen moviegoer would be a mistake. They could go the route of The Incredible Hulk and get the origin/backstory out of the way in the opening credits. That may cheapen the character and ultimately create a disconnect with the story and it’s characters for a casual movie fan.
As for Venom and Carnage I think that they are great characters and the brief, ridiculous inclusion of Venom in SM3 was a travesty! That being said,a rehashing of an already done character this soon would be a mistake. And if there is no Venom then there is ultimately no Carnage. Besides, the Maximum Carnage storyline was so sprawling and included so many characters that it would be nearly impossible to bring to life on the big screen properly. Forget about the sheer amount of heroes, villains and supporting characters that were included in the comics and the set up and studio rights. Just the time alone that it would take to evoke the magnitude of the events and ensuing battles would be a trilogy of films in itself. If not then you’d end up with a half assed treatment of it like the Dark Phoenix Saga in X-Men 3.
I think that if this film does well and generates a sequel then Venom or possibly a new take on either Doc Ock or Green Goblin would be an option. A longshot, but still in the realm of possibility. Much like The Dark Knight’s inclusion of The Joker.
With Batman Begins Nolan gave us a fresh take on an enduring and iconic character with different, never before done villains to cleanse our palates of the previous films. While Venom, Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus would be cool to see in this new franchise I wouldn’t bet on it.
I hate make so many comparisons to Batman but Spider-Man, like Batman has a terrific and vast rogues gallery! There are so many characters that I’d like to see the wall crawler square off against. Kraven! Mysterio! Rhino! Electro! Vulture!… the list goes on and on! The fact is that even if Sony struck an insanely long deal with the cast and crew to return for more movies the fact is that there is simply not enough time to tell the stories of everyone’s favorite enemies. We’ll just have to hope that we get to see well made movies about these characters.

I am already lost with this new Spiderman Movie. First off, Toby already signed to be in the 4th Spiderman film and now they took it from him? What happened? Second, WHY WHY WHY start over? It wastes time, money, ect. Third, if they screw this up no one will make money on this. Okay so they are introducing the Lizard, cool but what about Carnage?
