You can’t keep a cursed house down. Still boasting that it’s “based on a true story” (maybe, maybe not), the latest “Amityville” movie, titled “Amityville: The Awakening,” gets a PG-13 rating and a new teen star in Disney princess Bella Throne. Okay, so I don’t know if the film is officially PG-13, but it seems like it to me from this first trailer. I mean, just about every shock scene here turns out to be a vision of some kind, which is kind of lame, but hey, after 50 “Amityville” movies, I guess that’s just how it is now.
Take a look at the first trailer for “P2” and “Maniac” director Franck Khalfoun’s latest contribution to the never-say-die horror series. It all looks shockingly generic and teeny-bopper-ish. The scariest thing here is Thorne wearing goth make-up.
Belle, her little sister, and her comatose twin brother move into a new house with their single mother Joan in order to save money to help pay for her brother’s expensive healthcare. But when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house including the miraculous recovery of her brother, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house.
Starring Bella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and the mean dad from “That ’70s Show.”
Waking up next year, January 2nd, 2015.
