When I got this press release announcing the upcoming DVD release for the A&E remake of “The Andromeda Strain”, I thought I had missed the mini-series’ premiere on the cable channel. Turns out I hadn’t; in fact, the mini-series won’t premiere until May on Memorial Day, so plenty of time to see it. But in case you were already waiting for the DVD version, we have the specs and DVD artwork for you below. The mini-series stars Benjamin Bratt, Eric McCormack, Ricky Shroder, Andre Braugher, and Christa Miller, and is produced by Tony and Ridley Scott.
From executive producers Ridley Scott (American Gangster, Gladiator) and Tony Scott (Numb3rs) comes The Andromeda Strain, the edge-of-your seat, four-hour miniseries about a team of scientists investigating a deadly disease from an alien world that threatens to destroy mankind. Debuting as an original A&E television event on May 26 and 27, The Andromeda Strain features an outstanding cast featuring Benjamin Bratt (“Law & Order”), Christa Miller (“Scrubs”), Eric McCormack (“Will & Grace”), Ricky Schroder (“NYPD Blue”), Andrew Braugher (“Homicide: Life on the Streets”), Christa Miller (“Scrubs”), Daniel Dae Kim (“Lost”), and Viola Davis (“Traveler”). Directed by two-time Academy Award® nominee Mikael Saloman (Backdraft, The Abyss) and based on the best-selling novel by Michael Crichton, the DVD will be released as a two-disc set in Dolby 5.1 Surround that combines the complete uninterrupted four-hour presentation with a thrilling behind-the-scenes look at the production.
