Here’s a quickie post featuring the main cast of Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers” assembling in New York City’s Central Park, where it appears much of the film’s action takes place. (As you’ll recall, the bulk of the movie’s action sequences were shot in Cleveland, which was standing in for NYC.) Now that all the mayhem is out of the way, the gang have apparently arrived at NYC itself to shoot the city’s not-stand-in-able scenery, such as Central Park, etc.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW
While Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston as Loki are in full costume, the rest looks like they’re in their civilian guise. Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark in suit and tie, Chris Evans as Captain America in his bomber jacket, and Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner in civilian clothes. Also present are Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner aka The Hulk) and Stellan Skarsgård as Professor Erik Selvig.
And look closer and you’ll spot director Joss Whedon, the bearded and prematurely balding one directing the action. Looks like the gang are getting along famously in-between takes.
“The Avengers” assemble on the big screen May 4, 2012.
