Captain America, Iron Man, and the rest of the Avengers boys (and girl) strike a heroic pose in a new “Avengers” poster. I’m not entirely sure what Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury is doing there in the background, though. I think he’s resting his left leg on something? Doing some waist turning exercises (while holding his gun)? No idea, but Nick Fury is a complicated man like that, so we should assume whatever he’s doing, it’s to save us from evil shenanigans. We’re told that a new trailer will be popping up online tomorrow at 9AM PST, so be on the look out for that, comic book fans.
“The Avengers”, from director Joss Whedon of “Buffy” fame, will pit the world’s first superheroes against the mischievous evil of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and his merry band of invaders, who may or may not be aliens. At this point, I’m kind of sick of trying to guess their identity. They’ll just end up being Hulk fodder anyway, right?
The film also stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, Stellan Skarsgard, and is due out May 4th, 2012 according to the poster below.

Update: According to HeyUGuys, “The Avengers” will be called “The Avengers Assemble” in the UK only in order to differentiate it from the 1960s “The Avengers” TV show (as well as the 1998 movie starring Uma Thurman and Ralph Fiennes). Here’s the UK’s version of the same poster. HeyUGuys have also confirmed the title change in the UK only with Disney.
