The Avengers Will Help Promote a Trailer for Some Little Indie Film About a Guy in a Bat Suit or Something

Looks like “Avengers” fans who will be packing cinemas all across this great land of ours on May 4th, 2012 will also be getting an additional treat — a brand spanking new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” (officially the third trailer, if you’re keeping track at home).

Cause, gosh, “The Dark Knight Rises” needs all the exposure it can get, am I right?

After a week of rumors, Warner Bros. has confirmed the attachment of the latest “TDKR” trailer in front of “The Avengers” themselves:

WB TDKR Trailer

You would think that since “TDKR” and “Avengers” are owned by two completely different studios that will be competing for your hard-earned Summer movie going dollars, that they wouldn’t necessarily want to help promote the other. Then again, the two films are coming out over two months apart, so I don’t suppose it matters too much to either camp. As strong as advance reviews have been for “The Avengers”, I don’t foresee it continuing to dominate well into “TDKR’s” July date.

Ironically, “The Avengers” looks more like a D.C. comic book come to life (colorful, with a strong emphasis on “comic book” adventure) while Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises” looks more like a Marvel comic book (dark and gritty and going for realism). Go figure.

Oh, and here’s the latest “Avengers” featurette:

    Genuinely surprising. Pleasantly, too.

I guess they’re doing all they can to further the comic film industry.

It’s happened before so i’m not surprised. Besides what better way to get your last trailer out before release than to put it with the biggest movie to come out before yours?
