The Burbank Playas Present Manipede Trailer is Endlessly Amusing

Horror Movie News, The Burbank Playas Present Manipede! (2009) Movie, Videos — By Todd Rigney on December 23, 2009 |

Okay, okay. You got me. That byline is, perhaps, more than a little misleading. After all, I don’t expect everyone to thoroughly appreciate the trailer for Matt Johnson’s madcap horror/comedy “The Burbank Playas Present Manipede!” as much as I currently do. It’s campy, it’s low-budget, it’s humor is fairly obvious — in other words, it’s designed specifically to appeal to an admittedly niche audience. I am, however, a very vocal supporter of microbudget comedies, and “Manipede!” certainly looks the part. And while not every single joke tossed haphazardly towards the screen is a guaranteed zinger, there’s enough effective material lurking within the clip below to warrant some attention. Huge thanks to the guys and gals working diligently at Horror-Movies.ca, as I seriously believe this never would have appeared on my high-tech cinematic radar equipment otherwise.

Specifically, here’s what the story is all about:

A lovably hapless troupe of actors decide to make a monster movie to save their theater from a hostile take over. The result is half man, half millipede…he’s Manipede!

As of this writing, no release date has been set, though I’ll be sure to pass the word along to you, our faithful readers, as soon as one becomes available. Until then, the trailer awaits below.
