When I first heard the title for “Devil” boys John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle’s latest, “As Above, So Below,” I thought it was some fancy art house movie, and I didn’t really bother with it. Turns out, it’s a Found Footage horror flick about some college student types who uncover the gateway to hell in the catacombs under Paris. Go figure, right?
Check out the first trailer for the Dowdles’ “As Above, So Below,” which is not about depressing city people sipping wine while talking about suicide and such. Though from the looks of it, there are suicides a’happenin’, albeit in a grisly and “You’re all going to die!” sort of way.
Miles of twisting catacombs lie beneath the streets of Paris, the eternal home to countless souls. When a team of explorers ventures into the uncharted maze of bones, they uncover the dark secret that lies within this city of the dead. A journey into madness and terror, As Above, So Below reaches deep into the human psyche to reveal the personal demons that come back to haunt us all.
Starring Ben Feldman, Edwin Hodge, and Perdita Weeks.
The city of lights turns deadly this August 15th.
