Now it looks like the CW wants a piece of that lucrative undead action, with the network developing their own zombie TV show, though one with a slight twist.
Instead of the post-apocalyptic variety, the CW’s “iZombie” will be “a supernatural crime procedural that centers on a med student-turned-zombie who takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity. But with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories, and with the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.”
It is, as you might have already surmised, based on a D.C. comic book, this one by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred.
“Veronica Mar’s” Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero will write and produce the show for the CW, which currently has “iZombie” slotted for development.
“iZombie” will be joining a suddenly very crowded zombie field. Besides AMC’s “The Walking Dead”, zombies will be shuffling around in NBC’s “Babylon Fields”, A&E’s “The Returned”, and ABC’s “Resurrection”. Though from the sounds of it, “iZombie” probably won’t have too many horror elements.
