If you’re wondering how Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster fits into Marvel’s upcoming sequel of “Thor”, titled “The Dark World”, the answer is lots. Not only does Foster and Thor reunite, but according to this USAToday article, Foster shows up in Asgard for much of the movie.
And oh yeah, remember how Thor showed up on Earth for “The Avengers” but never called Foster?
“Thor still has lot of explaining to do, and a lot of making up,” says Hemsworth. “Even demigods end up in the doghouse, mate. So none of us is safe.”
To further complicate things, Foster’s life is in danger, and Thor is forced to bring her from Earth to Asgard for safekeeping.
“So while Thor was a fish out of water on Earth in the first two films (Thor and The Avengers), this time Jane is very much a fish out of water in Asgard,” says Feige.
Thor will be battling Dark Elf Malekith (played by former “Doctor Who” Christopher Eccleston) in the sequel, but will be getting some help from his imprisoned troublemaker brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston). According to Hemsworth:
Needing Loki’s help turns everything on its head. And it allows us to explore the underlying complexities of their relationship. It really ends up being a kind of chess match.
“Thor: The Dark World” also stars Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins.
Thor swings the hammer this November 8, 2013.
