The Falcon Soars (or Tries to) on the Set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The Falcon in Captain America - The Winter Soldier (2014) Concept Artwork

POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW

Get your first look at Anthony Mackie all suited up as Captain America’s bestest pal The Falcon from the set of Anthony and Joe Russo’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. Looks like Mackie is shooting an intense (and probably very cool, by the time the wires are digitally removed and CGI inserted into the background) action scene from the movie. I didn’t know The Falcon went around shooting people, though, I don’t remember him going to town with machineguns in the comic books. But I guess they’re re-envisioning him as more of a soldier, a commando of sorts. With, you know, mechanical wings.

Speaking of which, I don’t see any wings here, even though he appears to be wearing his flying suit, judging by how closely this resembles the concept artwork for the character above. Maybe they’re going to CGI that in later, too.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” also stars Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Robert Redford, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Cobie Smulders, and Hayley Atwell.

Soaring next year April 4, 2014.
