In a world stuffed to overflowing with zombie films of all shapes and sizes, sometimes it’s hard to find one that doesn’t make you hate the subgenre with an undying passion. Directors Howard and Jonathan Ford’s 2010 flick “The Dead” was definitely an unexpected surprise. It’s a diamond in the rough, one that should be properly investigated by those who still enjoy a good zombie romp. I’m sure there’s still a few of you left out there.
The Ford brothers are returning to the world of shambling corpses with their upcoming sequel “The Dead 2: India.” It’s kind of like the original, except, you know, it’s in India. I wasn’t sure if the title made that clear. Clarification never hurt anyone.
A synopsis? Why sure:
The film follows the story of American engineer Nicholas Burton (Joseph Millson) in a race against time to reach his pregnant girlfriend, Ishani (Meenu). Burton enlists the help of orphan street kid Javed (Anand Goyal), and together they make a perilous 300-mile journey across deadly landscapes as a zombie apocalypse threatens to engulf the entire nation.
When will “The Dead 2: India” show up in your neck of the woods? I have no idea. North American zombie fanatics who are attending this year’s ScreamFest in Los Angeles can catch a screening of the flick, but the rest of us will just have to wait for a distributor to pick it up. In the meantime, sink your jagged teeth into the trailer below.
