The Green Lantern Trailer Soars Online

In brightest day, in blackest night, no trailer shall escape my sight. That’s how the motto goes, right? Eh, close enough. As teased last week, today finds the full trailer for “Green Lantern” soaring its way online. Without further delay, check it out below and judge for yourself — Too cartoony? Not cartoony enough? Or just right?

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Temuera Morrison, Jenna Craig, Jon Tenney, Tim Robbins, Angela Bassett, Taika Cohen, Jeff Wolfe and directed by Martin Campbell.

Well… that looks awful! After the E.T. sneak peek I thought that maybe it was just incomplete CGI and carefully picked clips that made it look like this was going to be a cartoonish comedy. It looks like that is exactly what it’s going to be! UUUGGHH! I consider myself a pretty big comic fan. This is a movie that I will not see! How sad.

    • CGI

Clearly, you have NO cinematic taste. Your money will not be missed.

I kind of like the look of the Lanterns, at least on Jordan and even if it isn’t a 100% accurate. Doesn’t look bulky and seems like it really is an extension of the ring’s energy, but I hope they tweak the proportions a bit because in the full body shots, he looks like a Micronaut action-figure.

Bad CGI can destroy any good film.

      Keep it to yourself.

The CGI isn’t finished yet. They wanted to get a trailer out but the effects aren’t finished yet. This isn’t the first time it’s been done. Other than that I like the tone of the film. FUN! Sure there will be serious parts, and some that are pretty dark, but it won’t be as serious as the Dark Knight and it shouldn’t be. It should eb more in line with Iron Man. A movie that takes the source material seriously but still has fun with it. Some characters need to be fun. Spiderman, Iron Man, Green Lantern, Flash. And others need to be serious, like Batman, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and even Superman to a point. They used alot of the funnier moments early in the film to highlight his personality it seems, and after he gets the ring (except to show Tom) it’s all business.
