The Green Lantern Trailer Soars Online

In brightest day, in blackest night, no trailer shall escape my sight. That’s how the motto goes, right? Eh, close enough. As teased last week, today finds the full trailer for “Green Lantern” soaring its way online. Without further delay, check it out below and judge for yourself — Too cartoony? Not cartoony enough? Or just right?

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Temuera Morrison, Jenna Craig, Jon Tenney, Tim Robbins, Angela Bassett, Taika Cohen, Jeff Wolfe and directed by Martin Campbell.

Policing the spaceways June 17, 2011.

I always felt that GL should have a feel of a mix between Superman and Batman. Donner’s Superman felt really MAJESTIC and EPIC but was also fun,Nolan’s Batman is DARK and SERIOUS. I feel the tone is wrong and that this tone should NOT feel like Iron Man. This tone is more appropriate for THE FLASH. I’m still not feeling this. I still hope that the movie turns out to be good. Also Sinestro’s suit looks better than Hal’s!

Agreed about Sinestro’s suit. it actually looks like his “First Flight ” gear. As for the tone I don’t know, I agree about the Majestic, epic and fun, but shouldn’t be dark at all, at least not yet. WIth the space aspect of the film (which we only got a glimpse of) it’ll be tonally different from everything else we’ve seen CBM-wise. That will be it’s epic part. And It’s like Batman says Green Lantern is all about the light, he’s a becaon in the dark. And I actually think the Flash and GL should have similar tones when it comes to their films. That’s one of the reasons Barry and hall are so close, and again why Wally became one of Kyle’s best friends down the line. It was their upbeat attitudes. As I said the parrallels between IM and GL are rather striking. Both have that playboy quality, both love what they do and know they’re good at it, and both embrace their new abilities with a childlike glee at first, and it’s only after years of doing it that they became more serious (after several tragedies each). But as I also said, it really looks like the playful aspect of hal is the early part of the film, and the rest looks to be standard superhero stuff.

i pray that the cgi is not finished…that is the only thing that worries me about the film…the rest of the trailer gave me goosebumps…the other lanterns look like there is potential for something awesome…maybe even surpassing star wars as far as aliens go…and it looks like a lot of this film will be in space, which is just as it should be…sinestro looks spot on but hal does look a little weird…too skinny and skin tight maybe…the overall tone of the trailer has won me over 100%…and even though i would have gone to see this movie no matter what, it is now cemented at the top of my list.

To be honest Sinestro is the only character inspiring me to see this. I think MARK STRONG will MAKE this movie work.

Green Lantern’s one of my faves, I just got through reading some of his stories. Some problems with it, but Ryan Reynolds looks like Hal Jordan. Hopefully, when they make the sequel, we’ll get to see Brad Cooper as Guy Gardner. Yes! Looks like WB has a new franchise. These movies are made for kids, look what happenned to Watchmen and Kick-Ass. If the kids can’t come, it can really kill a CBM. And, hopefully, the ladies will come too. Ryan is the sexiest man alive right now! As usual, Hollywood screws up trying to please everybody to get those bodies in the theatre. I will definitely see it, GL is a great character. The ring is weak, where’s the lantern insignia? GL has humor, but Hal is more often than not serious. Hope they tone down the humor, but again, those little boys. Sinestro is off the chain!

some of yall think the cgi is bad, but you need to realize they got a lot more time to do some work on it so don’t look down on it. And also Green Lantern should have that littile cartoonish look to it, because it is more fantasy rather than hero like to me and maybe others. And another thing to the haters of the people that done the cgi I want to see you do better, and if you can’t then stop hating on the men and women that put hard work into making this movie.

Each to there own, If people wanna hate then let them we don’t all have to like the samething.

I think most people know the CGI isn’t done, most of us have seen the magazine cover with the suit looking much better, the main problem i’m seeing is that people dont like the tone of the film, and that Ryan is playing himself more then the character.
