If the success of the “Saw” horror franchise has told us anything, it’s that there’s still a healthy appetite for horror movie sequels. Even ones that just repeats the same crap as the previous 10 installments in said franchise. If you’re a fan of that kind of filmmaking, you’re in luck, because Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures is putting out “The Grudge 3″, this time directly to DVD because, one presumes, the diminishing returns of the “Grudge” remakes are no longer worthy of a theatrical release. Hence, straight to DVD. Here’s the trailer for the sequel, which seems to indicate that the killer Japanese chick and her cat-screaming kid are back. I only saw the first two movies in spurts, and laughed my ass off during the Japanese originals, so you’ll forgive me if I think you people scare way too easily by this stuff.
A young Japanese woman who holds the key to stopping the evil spirit of Kayako, travels to the haunted Chicago apartment from the sequel, to stop the curse of Kayako once and for all and save a family who are currently being haunted by her malicious spirit.
Starring Shawnee Smith, Marina Sirtis, Johanna E. Braddy, Beau Mirchoff, Gil McKinney, Aiko Horiuchi, Matthew Knight, and Emi Ikehata. Toby Wilkins (“Splinter”) directs.
