Todd Phillips and company are already shooting “The Hangover 2”, but they are apparently still some casting to be done. Jamie Chung (left) of “Sucker Punch” and “Dragonball” fame has joined the cast, and will be playing Ed Helm’s new girlfriend now that Heather Graham has been confirmed as not reprising her Vegas stripper character from the first movie.
Lots of news from the comedy sequel in recent days, though I’m not sure if it’s the publicity the studio was probably hoping for.
As you’ll recall, Mel Gibson, who has been accused of domestic violence, was dumped from the movie when “Hangover” star Zack Galifianakis made a big public stink about his casting. (Liam Neeson has since replaced him in the role of a Bangkok tattoo artist.) According to TheWrap, the revolt apparently stems from Galifianakis’ involvement with girlfriend Quinn Lundberg, the founder of NGO Growing Voices, an organization that works with survivors of domestic violence in North Carolina.
So yeah, you can understand why Galifianakis didn’t want to work with a man accused of beating his girlfriend. Can you blame him? Sometimes you just gotta be a man and stand up for what you believe in. And he has the power now, so why not wield it?
In other confirmed “Hangover 2” news, convicted rapist and accused wife beater Mike Tyson will be reprising his role (as himself) from the first movie.
