The Happening Caused by Terrorists or the U.S. Government?
The Happening (2008) Movie, Videos — By Nix on May 1, 2008 |
Wait, aliens aren’t causing the weird stuff that’s taking place in M. Night Shymalan’s latest, “The Happening”? It’s not even little grey men from the center of the Earth? I’m so disillusioned, especially since, according to an article in the L.A. Times, the environmental crisis that everyone in the movie (led by Mark Wahlberg) is trying to flee from “was caused by terrorists or the U.S. government.” In Hollywood, that’s like saying, “either/or”, since there seems to be no distinction between Uncle Sam and Al Qaeda in Lalaland these days.
More from the LA Times:
“It has a road-movie-ish feeling to it,” says Shyamalan, who stays mum about what his traditional cameo appearance will be in this film. Perhaps the biggest influence on “The Happening,” which 20th Century Fox releases June 13, was the 1956 version of the classic horror film “Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” he says, “in the sense that people are trying to get out of an area that is affected and the people who are trying to get out have a better understanding of what’s going on than the general group and they are not being heard. Is there a mass hysteria thing going on or is there something deeper?”
It happens June 13, 2008.
Here’s a new trailer for the movie:

It’s the plants. (It’s M.Night, i mean what- did you really expect this film to have some sort of awesome ending?)
i no rite. OUt of all the great twists n his recent films.. Plants! Plants!
u have got to b kidding me.
Come on people. The bees are the key to the entire movie. Consider the beginning discussion with Wahlberg’s character and his students and the quote from Einstein on the blackboard. The student who stated that it would be blamed on natural causes is again stated by the reporter at the very end. The world is dying because of the death of the bees!
