I mean, seriously, if I didn’t know that this was an actual movie, I would think this is some kind of Buddy Cop movie parody, especially with the copy the voiceover guy is reading in the first half of the trailer. It’s like something out of a Saturday Night Live skit, it’s so cliche and by-the-numbers for a Buddy Cop film from the ’80s or ’90s. Oh, there is some cussing, so Red Band tag for this one, too.
The latest synopsis for the movie even screams “parody”:
Uptight FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) and foul-mouthed Boston cop Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy) couldn’t be more incompatible. But when they join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: buddies.
Anyways. “The Heat” stars Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, and can’t possibly be as silly and cliche as the trailer makes it out to be. Then again, I’ve been wrong before…
Feeling the heat April 5, 2013.
