In a continuation of today’s announcement by Marvel Studios about their upcoming movie slate, Marvel Studios Chairman David Maisel has indicated that just as Nick Fury showed up at the end of “Iron Man” to talk about “The Avengers Initiative”, the Hulk, soon to show up in his rebooted movie this Summer, may also cameo in “Iron Man 2”, thus paving the way for the announced (confirmed, baby!) “The Avengers” movie in 2011.
The AP has this:
Just as Downey’s character, Tony Stark, makes an appearance in next month’s “The Incredible Hulk,” the Hulk could turn up in “Iron Man 2,” Marvel Studios Chairman David Maisel said during a conference call to discuss the company’s earnings. And “The Avengers” consists of a rotating roster of Marvel heroes — including original members Iron Man, the Hulk, Ant-Man and Thor — that could see the return of virtually any of the franchise’s characters.
If you don’t love what Marvel Studios is doing with its characters, then you’re just not a comic book fan. This is what comic book lovers have been waiting for ever since Superman burst onto the screen — for characters to cross-over in the movies the way they do in the comics. And now, thanks to Marvel, that’s happening.
Leave it to Marvel, the purveyor of the best comic book characters out there, to once again innovate how comic book movies are done. Well done, guys, well done.
