The Kids in the Hall Return to Television with Death Comes to Town

TheKidsWhen you wake up to find this sort of news nesting pleasantly in your Inbox, the day is already as sweet and tangy as it can possibly get. Much to my surprise, The Kids in the Hall, the legendary sketch comedy troupe featuring Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson, are returning to Canadian television next year with an 8-part miniseries entitled “Death Comes to Town.” As a rabid fan of the original series, you can’t even imagine how excited I am. The only thing stopping me from shooting directly through the ceiling is the fact that the series has yet to be picked up for US consumption. However, it’s probably only a matter of time at this point, so I won’t dwell too much on the negatives. Lorne Michaels, get to work.

“Death Comes to Town” chronicles a small suburban community’s collective reaction to a series of particularly gruesome murders, which, coincidentally, have occurred just as Death decides to pay the residents a visit. As you may already have guessed, the boys will be portraying a wide variety of extremely colorful characters.

The impossibly amusing trailer, courtesy of Funny or Die, lies below. It’s not safe for work, but to be honest, who cares? Enjoy!

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at) beyondhollywood.com.
