The Man of Steel Gets Cuffed in New Poster

Man of Steel (2013) Movie Poster

This freshly released poster by Warner Bros. for Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” features a scene from the Comic Con trailer that was shown to fans last year, and which you can still see a bootleg version below (though I would recommend against it; it’s just not very good quality). I suspect this is less Supes being captured by human authorities, and more of Supes allowing his capture.

Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Russell Crowe, and busting loose June 14, 2013.

Cool Stories From Zergnet

  • Oz

Why so dark ? He is not a… knight !

  • Juggernaut

    I dig it.

  • Jevoapartir

Those cuffs better be made out of magic.

    • Juggernaut

That’s the point. He doesn’t have to allow the military to capture him but he is letting them. It shows his humility, restraint and respect for humanity.

  • Krypto Alexander

he’s big…our superman is tall and big…. nice job snyder and nolan

    • LSB

Yeah he is big, but he is like 6’1. So……maybe not that talk but tall enough. Brandon Routh was taller. But I agree it looks like they got the casting right.

NOW THAT IS SUPERMAN!!!! That looks awesome, just like the other teaser poster. Snyder definitely knows how to frame a dramatic image. And the difference in the two hilights exactly what Juggy said above. In the first poster he’s torn through a steel vault door like paper, and here he’s being handcuffed and walked by the military. SNyder and Nolan are on fire!!!

    • ErickKwon

Not just any Superman; he looks like he could be younger “Kingdom Come” Superman. He doesn’t look like he’ll be a boy scout like the Donner/Singer iteration

Indeed! Jon Hamm is KC Superman though. He’d be perfect.

        • ErickKwon

Since we’ll never get a live-action KC, DC Animation needs to get on that right quick, with Hamm in the part

The question gets brought up to Bruce Timm at every ComicCon, and the answer is always the same, not gonna happen! However that was originally the stance on The Dark Knight Returns if I recall. That said if they did do KC they’d have to do a major art change. I’d say do it CGI like trailer for th DCUniverse online or Injustice: Gods Among Us games. Do some performance capture and get the right voices and voila!!! TWO PART GOODNESS!!!!

  • ErickKwon

Ok, total conjecture from me, but they better not make the movie revolve around Superman’s fall from grace. Being that this is the first time we meet Cavill’s Superman, we should get to see him being Superman as we know it, not trying to rebuild his rep/self-esteem. This was the problem with “Judge Dredd” (Dredd stopped being a street Judge after the first 15 minutes) and to a lesser degree, “Superman Returns”.

    • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

No this is the first time the government is meeting him so they respond to his power level in kind. Much like what happened to Supes in the DCnU/New 52 in “Action Comics” they were afraid of what he could do so their first response is drawn guns and asking him to come in for questioning although here it looks like he does so willingly to show he’s not a threat.

      • ErickKwon

        Okay, that’s good. That works.

  • Eagle Eye

I like that the government is like “AHHHHH, WHAT THE HELL, ALIENNNNNNNNNNNN”!!! Seems really cool, plus, it will show to the people why he is a hero, because he could just destroy them all, but he just tolerates the hate, the prejudice, like a true hero would…

By the way, i got a name for the sequel “Super-Man : Man Of Tommorow”. What do you guys think?

    • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

      Actually that’s a great title!

      • LSB

Deadpool, how do you think the scope of this movie will be? And be detailed. Do you think there is something in the film that will lead to JL? Do you think Gina Carano is in it as WW? Do you think Zack Snyder will direct it? What is your cast for JL? I am afraid just alittle that Chris Nolon down graded supes powers just a bit because he wants to give it a real world affect in a way, what do you think about that? Give me your 1,2,3, and 4 cents.

        • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Snyder IS directing I believe Nolan is producing. So we’re gonna get the insane over the top action and slick visuals Snyder is known for. I’m hoping there is something that leads to a connected universe. I think DC/WB had that plan going in with GL and Man of Steel and then GL tanked so now they’re a bit hesitant. They’re hedging they’re bets on this one. I doubt Snyder has let Nolan talk him into downgrading Supes cause that is what makes him Superman, not the powers but the humility and humanity that he has to hold back. I think people take for granted how strong Superman is but not how much he has to hold back. This was best shown to me in the series finale of Justice League Unlimited when he gave a speech to Darkseid about how all his life he’s had to hold back, and felt like he’s been living in a world of cardboard, always afraid he could hurt something or someone. He could kill with a flick of his pinky. That said Nolan and I think even moreso Snyder will inject a real world feel to this in the form that the world, and everything in it will seem real and believable. It will be familiar to us in that it’s what we are used to seeing everyday, but Superman and the world of Krypton will be the exception, and even then it will have a basis in some kind of reality. As for people afraid it will be too dark, the world around him should be somewhat dark to show that he is a beacon of hope.

          • Eagle Eye

I agree, i think it could be great to have a realistic world and a super powered guy who challenges everything the human races know about the universe…

I think it’s gonna be amazing, really fantastic.

My favorite director, the most famous super hero of all time with a great creative team, this could be the best super hero film ever.

Until DeadPool, that is… (Seriously, Ryan is taking too long, get Michael Rosenbaum or Jeffrey Donovan for the role NOWWWWWWW)

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Agreed on all fronts!! Supes isn’t my favorite but when done right he’s up there. And I think Snyder is going to give us the Superman film we’ve all been waiting for for sometime.

As for Deadpool, yeah I’m glad Ryan Reynolds is front and center waving the DP flag and all but Marvel/Fox needs to stop BSing and get to it. And Yes Rosenbaum or Donovan would be great choices, I had Shawn William Scott in that list as well, and I would’ve put Chris Evans in it too but no longer as he’s Cap. Joseph Gorodon Levit would work but he’s too short.

          • Eagle Eye

We have been waiting a long time for a good Super-Man film (not insulting the Reeves ones, they’re fantastic, but it would be nice to have one for our generation)…

DeadPool is one of those films, that when it starts filming, i will just be really surprised… It’s kinda like Lord Of The Rings, in the sense i can’t believe anyone will finally go for it (though we all know how LOTR turned out…).

Shawn Willian Scott could be pretty good, but i just like Rosenbaum and Donovan in the roles, i think they would rock it:D

            I agree as well.
