Who knew that the John Cena action extravaganza “The Marine” was popular enough to warrant a sequel? Not this guy, apparently. Cena, however, has moved on to greener pastures, allowing another WWE star to take the reins. Seeing as how I’m not a wrestling fan, the name Ted Dibiase does absolutely nothing for me. He must be a bankable guy, as he’s landed the lead role in “Pistol Whipped” director Roel Reiné’s follow-up to the mildly popular 2006 actioner. The aforementioned Dibiase stars as a highly-trained recon sniper who must save a gaggle of vacationers from a band of savage terrorists. A sequel that has nothing to do with the original? Imagine that!
According to the chaps at Film Junk, the DVD will contain “behind-the-scenes featurettes, a profile of Ted DiBiase (including interviews with his dad and brother), plus deleted and extended scenes.” Not too shabby for a low-budget, straight-to-video sequel.
“The Marine 2” will attempt to drop you to the mat on December 29th.
