The Marine 2 Proves That Any Movie Can Have a Sequel

TheMarineWho knew that the John Cena action extravaganza “The Marine” was popular enough to warrant a sequel? Not this guy, apparently. Cena, however, has moved on to greener pastures, allowing another WWE star to take the reins. Seeing as how I’m not a wrestling fan, the name Ted Dibiase does absolutely nothing for me. He must be a bankable guy, as he’s landed the lead role in “Pistol Whipped” director Roel Reiné’s follow-up to the mildly popular 2006 actioner. The aforementioned Dibiase stars as a highly-trained recon sniper who must save a gaggle of vacationers from a band of savage terrorists. A sequel that has nothing to do with the original? Imagine that!

According to the chaps at Film Junk, the DVD will contain “behind-the-scenes featurettes, a profile of Ted DiBiase (including interviews with his dad and brother), plus deleted and extended scenes.” Not too shabby for a low-budget, straight-to-video sequel.

“The Marine 2″ will attempt to drop you to the mat on December 29th.

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at) beyondhollywood.com.
