If you’re the sort of person who thinks that movies should be serious, artful, and tastefully crafted, then you’re about to experience something that will shatter your entire day. Below you’ll find the trailer for “Hellyfish,” a bizarre little creature feature from Pat Longstreth and Rob MacLean. Depending on your taste, it’s either indescribably awesome or downright pathetic.

The movie looks like something that the boys and girls at The Asylum would have cooked up in their spare time. While that might seem like a slap in the face to the filmmakers, it’s actually a pretty strong compliment. I love Asylum flicks, and “Hellyfish” appears to have been crafted in the same vein. Could be a fun flick for an otherwise boring Saturday evening.

Here’s what you can expect from the plot:

America’s only missing nuclear weapon is leaking radioactive material into the ocean just off the coast of Tybee Island, GA. The trifling existence of a hapless cast is disrupted by a vicious force of nature that shows no mercy.

The trailer doesn’t shy away from giving you a glimpse of the monsters in action. As intriguing as the creatures may be, I want to know what the hot blonde chick is going to do with that rocket launcher. Unfortunately, I have no idea when this time is going to be released. As soon as I know something, I’ll let you know. How lucky are you feeling right now?

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at)
