The Planet of the Apes Continue to Rise in New Theatrical Trailer

A new, theatrical trailer for Fox’s awkwardly titled “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” has risen (see what I did there?). The film stars James Franco as a nerdy nerd who discovers a cure for Alzheimer’s, but also gives rise to the apes that will one day enslave us and make us mate inside cages. Okay, so that last part probably ain’t so bad, but I’m definitely going to have issues with the first part. It’s too bad Jimmy didn’t listen to his pretty girlfriend with the sexy accent. As we all know, exotic people with accents are always wiser than those without in sci-fi movies. And that’s a fact, Jack.

Set in present-day San Francisco, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES reveals the origins of a war that ultimately led to a global apocalypse – and to Earth becoming the Planet of the Apes. The Oscar-winning visual effects team that brought to life the worlds of Avatar and Lord of the Rings is taking on its most ambitious challenge, creating for the first time a non-human CGI character that delivers a dramatic performance with real emotion and intelligence.

Starring James Franco, Tom Felton, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis, Tyler Labine, Chelah Horsdal and directed by Rupert Wyatt.

Pick out your cages August 5, 2011.

Let me start by saying this movie looks awesome as well. But in all reality and I know we aren’t with this movie. How are you going to get that many apes in one city. I am sorry but, looking at the film, that is probably more apes than all of the zoos put together have residing in them.

Still think the chimps need a bit more of work. Still look too CGI’ish. Other than that, I’m sold!

Well for one i am not that psyched. Come on, Rupert Wyatt directing the whole shabang the writer of ticks for crying out loud. I hated the Burton Remake (the only burton movie i actually dislike) and this seems like another dud. Some decent action probably.

And i agree the apes look kinda CGI’ish.

They should have gone for more animatronics and a different setting.

There’s 6 billion of us and maybe about half a million great apes? Gorilla’s and Urangutangs (the main apes in the movies) being almost extinct. So every ape has to have at least one nuclear device strapped on it’s back or something. I think the premise is kinda dumb and MSTK worthy will watch for flashy visuals and cgi monkey business.
