Saban Brands is not only moving forward with their big-screen “Power Rangers” reboot, but they’ve already set a release date for it.
For you crazy kids that still remember those brightly colored teenage saviors of the universe, you can now mark July 22, 2016 on your calender as the triumphant return date of the Rangers.
As for what it’ll be about, from the sounds of it it’s essentially the premise of the original show:
From a story by Executive Producer Roberto Orci (TRANSFORMERS, STAR TREK, AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2) and screenwriters Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, THOR) comes a modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world.
The announcement doesn’t come with a cast list, and as far as I know, the movie doesn’t even have a director yet.
So yeah, still plenty of way to go-go before we get the Power Rangers back on the big screen.
