The Rock is Out of the Spy (Hunter) Business

By Nix | October 19, 2007 (10:46 am)

Will Spy Hunter and his groovy morphing car that can dodge oil slicks and bomb-dropping helicopters finally make it to the big screen? Maybe, but it’ll have to do so without The Rock. Or at least that’s according to Latino Review, who announces the news that Dwayne Johnson is now officially out of the running to play the lead in a proposed “Spy Hunter” film. The movie itself is now under the guidance of Paul W.S. Anderson, not to be confused with the other Paul Anderson who fanboys don’t hate with a passion. He’s the other one. You know, the one they do hate? The film’s best chance to get made was when John Woo was attached to direct. Everyone was so excited they even put out a game with the Rock voicing the main character.

More:

The film is now in the hands of Paul W.S. Anderson. The writing credits have been immense for the film thus far (including Stuart Beattie and Zak Penn) but Anderson has written his own thoughts on the film and is now waiting on approval, the script, et cetra.

The big news??? The Rock is OUT. That’s right folks - the movie is finally going to be made but ol’ Dwayne won’t be the one climbing into the Spy Hunter-mobile. Sorry to spoil the fun ladies and gents!!!

Bah. It’s a movie based on a videogame. As good as it can be, how could can it possibly be?

Paul WS Anderson is working on Castlevania and Spy Hunter movie and Spy Hunter without The Rock “What the hell
is going on” And Anderson writing his ideas on the script get out of here.
The Resident Evil filmmaker is still developing Castlevania and Ian Jeffers is still working on the script and there is no word on the cast yet.
Thank You.
