Oh, man. Nicolas Cage’s “Season of the Witch” is either going to be the most stunning movie about evil witches ever made, or it’s gonna be the most stunningly awful movie starring Cage fighting evil witches ever made. I honestly don’t see a middle ground here, folks. Either/or, this thing is going to be worth the price of admission just to find out. Though it might be better to save the the $40 bucks for tickets and concessions and looking like a big shot in front of Sally from Accounting and just Redbox the sucker instead. But in case you still haven’t made up your mind, here are 30+ new images from the movie to help you out.
In the supernatural thriller Season of the Witch, Nicolas Cage stars as a 14th century Crusader who returns with his comrade (Ron Perlman) to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague. A beleaguered church, deeming sorcery the culprit of the plague, commands the two knights to transport an accused witch (Claire Foy) to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending the pestilence. A priest (Stephen Campbell Moore), a grieving knight (Ulrich Thomsen), an itinerant swindler (Stephen Graham) and a headstrong youth who can only dream of becoming a knight (Robert Sheehan) join a mission troubled by mythically hostile wilderness and fierce contention over the fate of the girl. When the embattled party arrives at the abbey, a horrific discovery jeopardizes the knight’s pledge to ensure the girl fair treatment, and pits them against an inexplicably powerful and destructive force.
Starring Nicolas Cage, Ron Perlman, Stephen Graham, Claire Foy, Stephen Campbell Moore, Robert Sheehan and directed by Dominic Sena.
